Built in 1909, the Indianapolis Motor Speedway is the largest sporting facility in the world. The 252,189 permanent seat facility was once paved with over 3.2 million bricks, most of which still lie under the asphalt. Only a single strip of bricks, a yard in width, remain visible at IMS and are used as the start/finish line.
